OPIRG McMaster’s RECYCLE CYCLES was Hamilton’s first and only all-volunteer, not-for-profit, community bike repair workshop. Taking donated bikes and bikes that would otherwise end up as landfill, volunteer mechanics repair and then sell cheaply to people who don’t want or can’t afford new bicycles. RECYCLE CYCLES was the model for MaCycle at McMaster. Hamilton now boasts several community-based bike repair workshop spaces, but RC was the granddaddy of all (and still going in the same location, but not officially as an OPIRG Working Group anymore.)
